The second week in November Jack's school held an open house for the parents. We came in the morning to school with Jack and got to participate while they had music time and then the parents watched as the kiddo's had a small snack. I know Jack was extremely confused as to why Daddy was going to school with us and then he couldn't figure out why we weren't leaving! After a bit of wondering around clinging to my leg he figured out that he could play with his "fends" and we weren't going to leave him.
We were all called to the mat for music time and all the parents sat with their children while the music teacher set up. The music and participation began and all the other children continued to sit with their parents for the remainder of music time.....well, most children. I must say as quiet and reserved as Jack is around new people, I expected him to either sit on the mat with his buddies or sit with us during music- NOPE!!!! Not my child.
He walked around the room attempting to play with the toys, intermittently doing a few dance moves to the music being played. After Daddy brought him back to the circle area, he wondered off to the snacks and tried to open the muffin tray that was awaiting us. I was beginning to get a complex, as my child was the only one not paying this poor music teacher any attention. Visions of ADHD started to dance in my head. After diverting him, yet again, from the muffins he moved on to the other children's parents..... he wanted to shake their hands and tell them "peace you"- in Jack language that is " peace be with you". Then comes the best part- I guess a song he really liked came on so he thought he would participate. Instead of joining in the circle with myself and the rest of the kids, he decided to crawl over several us to the center of the circle and dance in the middle for all of us to see- what a HAM!!!! Might I add that he was so very proud of himself!
Here he is receiving his book from Miss N.
Stuffing our second or third muffin in our mouth...
One more bite
The boys debating who will take the muffin.....hummmm
All in all it was a good day for us to see the little man in action. I had no idea what a little attention hog he could be, but I guess we are adjusting well to pre-school life. We love you little goofball!
