Turkey and Thanks

My "Turkey" in his turkey shirt, courtesy of my friend Marina.
Isn't it cute?? Of course, we have a wonderful model wearing it.....

Thanksgiving was fairly uneventful around our house. IT WAS WONDERFUL!!! We had a quiet day around the house, just the three of us. We took in some Macy's Day parade...Jack's first (that he remembers), and had a nice day together. We had dinner with the family that evening at my Aunt's house and of course Jack was a total Ham or shall I say Turkey?!? He, after warming up to everyone, ate up all the attention he received... We watched that great A&M v. Texas game and during the commercials Jack entertained us, running around giving everyone high fives and shaking hands. He went to bed entirely too late and enjoyed every minute of it. We had a wonderful day with wonderful people. We couldn't be more blessed with our family- immediate and extended. I am eternally thankful for the sweet little man above and his daddy! I feel so honored that God has brought them into my life and I am humbled that Brian and I were chosen to parent such a wonderful little boy. Thanks be to God!

Pre-Thanksgiving Fun

My sister will be spending the holiday with her husband's family this year, so she decided to come in the weekend before Thanksgiving to see us. She, myself and my mom had a great time, but I must say that she and Jack had a blast! She is so great with him and he is just crazy about her. When she leaves he talks about her for days and is constantly pretending to call her on the phone. The hit for the both of them this visit was this large box- I'm not sure how long they played with that thing, but it seemed like hours.

As you can see, tons of fun for the both of them. In fact, it may have been more fun for her. Who knew a box could be such entertainment!

Having Fun

Jack is getting into more and more around the house lately. For the most part, whatever lovely thing he finds or "removes" he will bring to me, then he will remind me what a good "heper" (helper) he is and, of course, I agree. Last week he "heped" by opening up my closet to see what goodies he could find and....

" Got, flippers mommy....."
So, get out your "flippers" it's starting to get cold!

Going for a ride with his shades on. We've taken to calling him "Stevie Wonder". He is constantly moving his head back and forth and staring at the ceiling when he has on his shades....hilarious.

Birthday Party

Last Saturday Jack and I went to little R's first birthday. Boy did he have a good time....he loves "boons" (balloons), especially balloons in his favorite colors of blue and red. R's poor mommy woke to balloons that had fallen overnight and they ended up being the HIT of the party....or, at least they were for my little dude.

He found some new toys

He thought he was being cute and "helping" open presents. I think we have an attention hog on our hands.

Sharing some balloons with his "feend"

Not sure what he was thinking.

The birthday boy really got after that cake- It was so cute!

The attempt at a group shot of the kids. This one is the only picture I have of him somewhat facing forward. He will NOT sit still. He wanted down immediately.

We had a great time at the party, got some yummy treats and thought R's momma did a great job!

Open House

The second week in November Jack's school held an open house for the parents. We came in the morning to school with Jack and got to participate while they had music time and then the parents watched as the kiddo's had a small snack. I know Jack was extremely confused as to why Daddy was going to school with us and then he couldn't figure out why we weren't leaving! After a bit of wondering around clinging to my leg he figured out that he could play with his "fends" and we weren't going to leave him.

We were all called to the mat for music time and all the parents sat with their children while the music teacher set up. The music and participation began and all the other children continued to sit with their parents for the remainder of music time.....well, most children. I must say as quiet and reserved as Jack is around new people, I expected him to either sit on the mat with his buddies or sit with us during music- NOPE!!!! Not my child.

He walked around the room attempting to play with the toys, intermittently doing a few dance moves to the music being played. After Daddy brought him back to the circle area, he wondered off to the snacks and tried to open the muffin tray that was awaiting us. I was beginning to get a complex, as my child was the only one not paying this poor music teacher any attention. Visions of ADHD started to dance in my head. After diverting him, yet again, from the muffins he moved on to the other children's parents..... he wanted to shake their hands and tell them "peace you"- in Jack language that is " peace be with you".  Then comes the best part- I guess a song he really liked came on so he thought he would participate. Instead of joining in the circle with myself and the rest of the kids, he decided to crawl over several us to the center of the circle and dance in the middle for all of us to see- what a HAM!!!! Might I add that he was so very proud of himself!

Here he is receiving his book from Miss N.

Stuffing our second or third muffin in our mouth...

 One more bite

The boys debating who will take the muffin.....hummmm

All in all it was a good day for us to see the little man in action. I had no idea what a little attention hog he could be, but I guess we are adjusting well to pre-school life. We love you little goofball!

Welcome November

November is here and has been for weeks now....I'm behind, as usual! Out with the jack-o-lanterns and  in with the cornucopia.

I used to enjoy November, not for the time to reflect and give thanks, but because it meant I was one month closer to Christmas. I guess, as I have grown up a bit and obviously, had a child of my own, my opinion has changed. I LOVE November for what it IS....A time for thanks and reflection. Taking a look at the simple, God given gifts in my life and cherishing them while I can. If we were only as diligent in being THANKFUL every month!
